Who Is Eligible For Awards

Awards can be used by the JMB member and the following relatives designated by the member:

  • *If a person other than the member will be using the award, the designated user may be required to show proof of relationship to the member.

Reminders When Exchanging Mileage for Awards

  • JMB members may not combine their mileage in order to receive awards.
    Mileage accumulated in other companies' mileage programs cannot be combined with JMB mileage in order to receive awards.
  • Awards issued for children and infants require the same mileage as those issued for adults.
    Infants may possess either (1) a mileage award ticket, or (2) an infant-fare ticket based on the same class of service as that which is to be utilized by the adults traveling with the infant, or (3) an infant-fare ticket based on a lower class of service plus an upgrade certificate. Infants traveling on mileage award tickets will occupy their own seat. Infants traveling on infant-fare tickets will not occupy their own seat.
  • Taxes and fees.
    Taxes, charges and various handling fees such as fuel surcharges and airport taxes applicable for international award tickets or upgrade awards will be collected from the applicable JMB member or the user of awards.

  • Mileage refunds.
    Once redeemed, mileage cannot be refunded to your account or used in exchange for a different award even if the award is completely unused. Deducted mileage from member's account can only be refunded by using the "Mileage Reinstatement Service for Unused Awards".
  • Check your mileage balance.
    Please make sure that you have the required number of miles at the time you request an award. You cannot request an award if you do not have the required mileage.
  • Your reservation must be confirmed.
    Award tickets, upgrade awards and hotel awards require comfirmed reservation in order to issue an award. Awards for open itineraries cannot be issued. Mileage will be redeemed by the JAL Group offices of your membership registration immediately at the time all flights have been confirmed and necessary arrangements on award issuance will be started. Once the reservation is comfirmed, the necessary mileage will be deducated from your JMB account and the award will be issued.
    Waitlists are not allowd for Japan domestic flight sectors of JAL Group Airlines and JMB partner airlines' flight sectors.
